- CARDXM by (c) Howard L. McHenry Services 1991
- Howard L. McHenry Services
- CompuServe ID: 71611,366
- The OpenDoor BBS (412)856-6322
-
- Purpose:
- Uses a Cardx database of names, addresses, phone
- numbers, and added information with a Hayes-compatible autodialer as
- a Terminate and Stay Resident program.
-
- Format:
- CARDXM [d:][filespec] or CARDXM will load the default file in the
- Cardx configuration file.
- Start CARDXM in the same directory as your Cardx files. The
- CARDX.CFG file is needed to configure the program.
-
- Remarks:
- CARDXM is normally loaded with a specific Cardx database (filespec)
- by being listed as a line in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file. You can switch
- to another database by unloading Cardxm and repeating the command
- with a different filespec at the DOS prompt. The Alt-Left Shift key
- combination pops up the CARDXM window, and Esc returns you to your
- application.
- Within the window, the Command keys are assigned thus:
-
- D/E - Dial the #1 or #2 phone number currently displayed.
- F4 - Search all cards for a "last, first" name string.
- F10 - Print a memo of all data in a record.
-
- You can page through all of the cards with the Up Cursor, Down
- Cursor, PgUp, PgDn, and Enter keys. The HOME key lets you jump
- quickly to the first card.
-
- To search the database, press F4 and enter a "last, first" name
- string. An alternate way to find a name quickly is to press Alt and
- a letter key. To find "Ziron," for example, hit Alt-Z, then use Up
- Cursor or Enter key to skip past "Zagazinski and "Zharos."
-
- When used with a Hayes-compatible modem, "D" or "E" dials the
- #1 or #2 number currently displayed. At the prompt, pick up the
- phone or press the Esc key to stop the modem from dialing the number.
-
- CARDXM is configured the same as Cardx, the Cardx configuration
- file is used in the same way as Cardx to set-up your modem.
-
- The Configuration, Add, Copy, Edit, Delete, Help screens,
- Mark/Transfer, and other Print functions were omitted to keep the
- program small and not cause memory problems for your application
- programs. These functions are available in the non-resident Cardx
- program.
